1317 Lee Street (Houston)
From Towrs
Overview
One of the great older homes in the city, 1317 Lee Street is evocative of the plantation homes of neighboring Louisiana. It is very easy to imagine people sipping cool drinks on the lower gallery while oaks dripping with Spanish moss provide shade.
With its galleries, wooden columns, hipped roof, and raised ground floor, it exhibits many features of French Creole architecture.
As of this writing, the building is in poor condition and may not survive local redevelopment efforts.
