Briefly
Belvidere is a suburb of Rockford and is 20 Minutes away from there. As of 2008, the population was 26,461. The city has 1 skyscraper and is home to the the Chrysler Plant. There is still a lot of rural land, but most of which has "For Sale Or Lease" Signs on them. This city is also a part of the Rockford Metro Area, which is one of the largest after Chicago in Illinois.

Belvidere has easy access to Chicago as well as Chicago's Northwest Suburbs. I-90 is on the south section of the city. Belvidere is also located 105 Miles northwest of Chicago. The largest suburb of Chicago going east on U.S. Highway 20 is Elgin, which is 45 Miles east of Belvidere.
Metra Extension
- Mid March 2010- Metra's proposal for train service as an extension from Elgin has been approved. Amtrack will service as the commute, because of distance in between Elgin and Rockford. The state is hoping to start the commute in 2012. This should be a big boost factor for Rockford's Economy. If all goes well, the train will service from Chicago, the suburbs, Elgin, Huntley, Marengo, Belvidere, and Rockford. We will have to see if this actually happens.
