Season MVPs

What Season MVP Means

If the player was the MVP for their team in that season, that means he had a great season with points, assists, rebounds, blocks, or steals. He was the go-to guy on the basketball court. The Bulls were a 1990s Dynasty Team, and not surprising that Michael Jordan had most of those years, until his first retirement. Pippen took responsibility after Jordan retired and then came back for only 17 games. That did not stop Jordan though, in 1996-1998, Jordan went to be an NBA Finals MVP his next 3 seasons. Unfortunately the Bulls manager at the time, did not want to keep the same team. Jordan retired again, after his final shot against the Jazz Bryon Russell in the 1998 NBA Finals. Toni Kukoc was the only 1990s Era Bulls player to stay on the team. He managed a good season with points, assists, and steals. After that, a new Bulls Era erupted with Elton Brand getting Co-Rookies Of The Year honors in 2000. Brand maintained his ability to play at the rim the next season, but the Bulls still could not come back to the Playoffs after Jordan retired. The Bulls then acquired Jalen Rose in a trade that sent Ron Mercer to Indiana, which was a really good trade. Jalen led the Bulls in points, rebounds, and assists for the next 2 seasons. Eddy Curry was the next good player to accomplish improving his play, even though he had a heart condition. Curry led the Bulls in points, rebounds, and blocks for the next 2 seasons. After years of trying to get into the playoffs, the Bulls finally did in 2005, but in 2005-2007 the Bulls had added great rookies and made a lot of trades. First came Ben Gordon, who led the Bulls with points, rebounds, and steals. Gordon had a little bit of an off-season the next year. This is where Luol Deng comes in at with a game he had played on March 26, 2007 with 38 points. The Bulls beat the Blazers 100-89 that night. Deng has not yet accomplished higher. Deng is now in his 6th season as a Bulls player. In 2008 Deng was injured in part of the season, but had good amount of points and rebounds. Ben Gordon led the Bulls again, and this time he added assists with his points, rebounds, and steals. In the 2008-2009 season, the Bulls got lucky when they were doing the lottery for a fight for the 1st Round Overall Pick. Lucky for the Bulls, they won and got 2009 Rookie Of The Year Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose had points, assists, steals, and rebounds. He also had 36 points in the 2009 Playoffs against the Celtics. John Salmons and Brad Miller were also acquired in a trade that sent Andres Nocioni and Drew Gooden to Sacramento. Salmons made it possible as a Bull to make 39 points against the Celtics in the 2009 Playoffs, while Miller had 11 Rebounds and 7 Points. Miller was slapped by one of the Celtics players, and was injured in the face. He had to sit for the remaining 4 minutes of the 4th quarter. This is of how well a player can be an MVP for their team. In the 2010 NBA All Star Game, Derrick Rose was selected as a reserve Guard and has helped the Bulls in Points, Rebounds, and Assists. Joakim Noah had a record high of 27 Double Doubles in 1 season, averaging 11 Points and 16 Rebounds a game. He was even surprisingly 4th for voting for the 2010 NBA All Star Game, 3 Weeks before voting ended. Luol Deng may have not been voted to the 2010 NBA All Star Game, but has made a comeback from previous seasons averaging 17.6 Points and 7.9 Rebounds per game. He is certainly a candidate for the Most Improved NBA Player. Unfortunately, due to injuries, Luol Deng and Joakim Noah were not candidates for 2010 Most Improved, and Aaron Brooks of the New Jersey Nets won the award. The 2010-2011 Season future looks bright for the Bulls, now that several NBA Free Agents came to Chicago. Yes, Kirk Hinrich maybe gone now, but that doesn't mean that the Bulls missed out. In early July 2010, Carlos Boozer signed a 5 Year/$76 Million deal with the Bulls, bringing with him former and now new team-mates Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver to Chicago. Remember, Brewer was waived by the Jazz in the mid season last year, but ended up going to Memphis. He later became a Free Agent, and the Bulls signed him to a contract that he was willing to play for. Korver opted out with Boozer in his contract, the Bulls were not wanting to stop, so Korver signed a deal with the Bulls like Brewer did. The Bulls also pursued former Knicks All Star Power Forward Kurt Thomas to a 1 year deal. They ended up getting 2 other Free Agents after that from the Thunder in a sign and trade for CJ Watson to a 1 year deal and from the Spurs, Keith Bogans to a 2 year deal. All these NBA Free Agents were given a sign and trade from their former teams. This is all thanks to Carlos Boozer for getting other players to sign with the Bulls, and also Bulls Management. Forget Jerry Krause, when you have John Paxson. We will have to see what is about to happen this season for the Bulls, but lets hope and chant for "2011 Eastern Conference Champions".

History Made At The United Center

The United Center on Chicago's West Side has had players make history. Michael Jordan will not be forgotten for his high flying ability to the rim. Jordan made things possible for the Bulls. Scottie Pippen was the addition that made it possible for Jordan and Pippen to make points and assists at the United Center. It took a while longer for another Bulls player to make history at the United Center. On December 15, 2006, Ben Wallace had 27 Rebounds made while adding 10 Points, 6 Assists, and 3 Blocks. Wallace was the Chicago Tribune's article "Bound For Glory". The Bulls beat the Bucks that night 117-111. Wallace was shy of Artis Gilmore's record of 28 Rebounds. In a game on March 26, 2007, Luol Deng had his highest ever 38 points to help the Bulls beat the Blazers 100-89. In the 2nd half of the 2008-2009 season, before the Playoffs, John Salmons made 39 Points and 8 Rebounds, to help the Bulls to another victory. In the 2009 Playoffs, Derrick Rose had 36 Points and 10 Assists to a victory in the United Center. On November 3, 2009 for the first time in his career, Luol Deng had tied 20 in 2 different categories. Deng went to help the Bulls beat the Bucks 83-81, when he had 24 Points, 20 Rebounds (7 shy of when Ben Wallace was a Bulls player), and 2 Blocks. Derrick Rose helped out as well with 16 Points and 5 Assists.
