Briefly

Daytona Beach has a population of 62,500 residents, but is filled with so much attractions. The city is on the Atlantic Ocean in Volusia County. The city did not have any skyscrapers until 1969, when the Clocktower Plaza Hotel was built. The Art Deco looking building is all 2 blocks away from the more recent skyscrapers next to the Atlantic Ocean. There is a "new downtown" for Daytona Beach. The older one is near the Highway 92 Causeway. This newer downtown has had tall skyscrapers coming since the 1980s. The city has a Boardwalk 1 block away from the newer downtown.

Location

Daytona Beach is near the Kennedy Space Center. If you take I-4 southwest about an hour away, you will end up in Orlando. If you take I-4 southwest 2 hours away, you will end up in Tampa. Daytona Beach is convenient to some of Florida's much larger cities.

Daytona Beach Urban Renewal

The city has made several renovations indoor and outdoor. In the late 1990s, architects made plans for more condo towers next to the Atlantic Ocean with a Boardwalk and shopping street. Atlantic Avenue now has a mall, shops, pier, and more condo towers. The avenue's first skyscraper was the Clocktower Plaza Hotel. After that, architects were interested in making more changes to the avenue.

Shopping

Daytona Beach has an Oceanwalk Shoppes Mall that is outdoors. It is part of the Oceanwalk Condos Complex. The Boardwalk is very much an entertainment center for the city. The Beach on the Atlantic Coast is open weekly from 8am-11pm. There is so much to see and do when your in Daytona Beach.
