Briefly
In the 1800s, Miami was a city full of Cuban Immigrants. Also the Art Deco Style was invented here, with clubs, diners, eateries, and shops. Not to mention that there were more well known Art Deco landmarks here, than in Chicago or New York. In the later part of the 20th Century, the Cuban Immigrants became legal citizens after years of fighting. Also, the Freedom Center (Miami) became known as the Cuban American Arts Museum. As of 2008, the population of Miami changed drastically, now a city full of 438,200, was only about 200,000 in 1990. The Metro Area extends to Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood (Florida), West Palm Beach, and near The Keys. The Metro Area is now a little over 1,300,000 residents.
