Woodstock Opera House was built in 1889 as a City Hall. In the 1920s the City Hall moved out. The building was vacant for 2 years. In 1922, the Woodstock Opera House moved into the building. In 1977, the building was placed on National Registers of Historic Places. The building is located in downtown Woodstock. Sometime in the 1950s, the cupola at the top of the building was destroyed from a severe thunderstorm, but was added back on the same time the building was placed on the National Registers of Historic Places.
