Timeline
- October, 2006: The site of Saint Nicholas' Greek Orthodox Church is searched for the remains of 9/11 victims. When the Twin Towers collapsed the church was destroyed by debris. The site was paved over to serve as an access road and staging area for the recovery and rebuilding effort. Hundreds of bones and bone fragments were found. Crews were also searching for a 600-pound safe holding a small enamel box containing three pieces of bone from Saint Nicholas, Saint Katherine, and Saint Sava.
